About Teaching and Learning Guru

guru: noun – teacher, authority, boffin, pundit…

I don’t mean “guru” in the religious sense, it’s tongue-in-cheek.

Nor do I pretend to be anything more than an ordinary teacher, sometimes getting it right and sometimes getting it wrong.

Hi, I’m Andy

I’ve been a teacher since 2006 and I’m here to share teaching strategies to deepen understanding, improve knowledge retention and to promote lifelong learning. This is my blog about Teaching and Learning, Leadership, EdTech, Managing Teacher Workload, Wellbeing and more.

I’ll be posting from my own experiences in order to drill down into what makes some strategies particularly successful and why, perhaps, we should be wary of using others.

Ultimately, the more that we as teachers try new ideas, the more likely we will develop strategies to give our students the best chance to achieve and contribute to the world.
